Aligning Energies

Energy Healing, Energy Medicine

Hands-On Spiritual Healing by Michael Bradford, Findhorn Press, 1993 is my favorite basic book on energy healing.  It’s straightforward, very easy to read, and surprisingly comprehensive.  A great place to start.

You might also start your study of energy healing by training in Reiki. Excellent Reiki Master Teachers are not difficult to find these days. You may want to start by visiting the website of the International Association of Reiki Professionals.   In addition to providing general information on Reiki, the website provides a listing of trained practitioners and teachers, and a page of Reiki books and music.

If you are serious about learning energy healing and energy self care, you MUST get Energy Medicine by Donna Eden, Tarcher/Putnam, 1998.  It is truly an encyclopedia of practical and powerful self-help strategies.  Read it in bits and pieces and all the way through several times.  You will be amazed at the quantity and quality of information here. Donna Eden's most recent book, Energy Medicine for Women provides important information for using energy techniques to deal with the cycles and stages in a woman's life.  As with all her offerings, the emphasis is on highly effective and practical interventions.

If you get a chance to take a workshop with Donna Eden, don’t miss that opportunity. She is a remarkable human being with an amazing and delightful presence.

If you want an introduction to basic energy medicine self-care techniques, but prefer a simpler and less linear learning style than reading a book, I would recommend The Energy Medicine Kit, from Sounds True, by Donna Eden.  This will provide you with a CD, DVD and 43 easy to use photo cards with directions for each exercise.  Very user friendly.

I completed the comprehensive, two-year Eden Energy Medicine Certification Program in February 2008. I strongly recommend it for aspiring or current energy practitioners as well as those seeking deep empowerment in energy self-care. You can read details about the program on the Innersource web site.

The Energy Medicine Institute is a valuable resource for information including a Handout Bank.
You may want to start your reading with Principles of Energy Medicine and A Beginner’s Guide to Energy Medicine.

The Sevenfold Journey, Reclaiming Mind, Body & Spirit Through the Chakras, by Anodea Judith and Selene Vega, Crossing Press, 1993, is, in my opinion, the single best resource for understanding and working with the chakras.  It is comprehensive, multi sensory, and deeply empowering.   This material emphasizes the use of yoga, but also includes valuable information on such things as partner and group work, journaling and rituals.

Barbara Ann Brennan’s book Hands of Light, A Guide to Healing Through the Human Energy Field, Bantam Books, 1987, is a highly regarded classic in the field.  The illustrations are quite outstanding, showing energy phenomena not depicted elsewhere.  The text goes very deep into the energy correlates of psychological phenomena.  Not a light read, but very useful for professionals.
